Creating social action opportunities for young people in Epsom & Ewell

The Horton Chapel Project has been successful in a funding bid to give young people in Epsom & Ewell access to high quality social action opportunities. This includes campaigning, fundraising and volunteering to gain skills and make a positive difference to their communities.

The £5000 grant from the #iwill campaign was awarded through Community Foundation for Surrey.

A diverse ‘youth board’ will be set up to consult local children and young people on some of the decisions that need to be made by the charity – including aspects of the setting up and running of The Horton.

Those involved will be able to participate in high-quality arts activities and contribute to innovative problem solving in the venue – which we hope will spark interest and develop skills, knowledge and networks that may help them in future study and employment.

Recruitment for the youth board will begin in September through local schools and clubs, following a full Covid- secure risk assessment.
